Change or reset your Yahoo password

Change your password
Go to the Yahoo Account Info page.

Enter and confirm your new password.
Click Continue. A confirmation appears.

Reset a forgotten password

Mobile phone:
If you don’t have a mobile number on file, that reset option won’t be available in Sign-in Helper. If you do have a number on file, but don’t have access to that phone, use the alternate email instructions below.

Go to the Sign-in Helper.
Enter your email address or your phone number.
If you can receive text messages to the number listed, click Yes, text me a code.
– Yahoo sends a verification code to your phone.
Enter the verification code we sent to your phone in the field provided.
Click Verify.
Important: If you close the “Code sent to my mobile phone” page, you can continue where you left off.
– If you used a phone number, a list of accounts associated with that number appears.
Click the account you’d like to sign into.
Click Continue.

Alternate email address
Go to the Sign-in Helper.
Enter your email address.
– If you have a mobile number listed on your account, that option will show.
If you have access to that email, click Yes, send me a code.
– A “Recover access to your Yahoo account” email will be sent to your alternate email address.
Enter the verification code we sent you, then click Verify.
Select an account to use from the list of accounts connected to the email address you provided. (See an account that isn’t yours? You can remove it.)
Click Continue.

Secret questions:
If you don’t have secret questions on file, that reset option won’t be available in Sign-in Helper.

Go to the Sign-in Helper.
Select I have a problem with my password.
Enter your Yahoo ID, then click Next.
If prompted, enter the CAPTCHA code.
Select Use my secret questions, then click Next.
Enter the answer to your secret questions, then click Next.
Enter your new password, then click Next.
